Concerns had been raised by various groups, including the Concerned Citizens of Ghana and the Minority in Parliament, regarding Dr. Ammishaddai’s continued stay in office beyond the legal age limit for public officers.
In December 2023, the Concerned Citizens of Ghana had threatened protests over Dr. Ammishaddai’s prolonged tenure, along with that of his deputy, Ms. Julie Essiam. The Minority in Parliament, led by Ningo Prampram MP Sam George, had also demanded Dr. Ammishaddai’s dismissal, labeling him as persona non grata due to his extended stay beyond the mandated age limit of 60 years.
Mr. George further cautioned companies against engaging with Dr. Ammishaddai, asserting that he lacked the authority to commit the state to any contractual obligations. These developments highlight the significance of adherence to legal requirements and accountability in public office.
