Madina Area Youth Ministry of The Apostolic Church-Ghana Honours Best Student

The Youth Ministry of the Madina Area of The Apostolic Church-Ghana is deeply committed to the holistic development of its young members, focusing on their academic, emotional, and spiritual growth. Reflecting this commitment, the Ministry, under the visionary leadership of Elder Ing. Henry Teinor, established the “Madina Area Youth Excellence Award (MAYEA)” in 2023. This award scheme aims to recognize and reward academic excellence while fostering healthy competition among the youth in the Madina administrative Area of The Apostolic Church-Ghana.

The second edition of the award was successfully observed during a well-attended mega All-Night prayer session held on Friday, May 24, under the theme “The Spirit of Excellence.” The event drew notable attendees, including the Area Superintendent, Pastor Jonas Nartey, a senior minister in The Apostolic Church-Ghana. Also present were Pastor Kwodwo Amoo Apau, the Youth Pastor for the Madina Area, Pastor Cephas Tetteh Amegavi, the New Legon District Pastor, and Pastor Alfred Tettey, the host and Madina District Pastor.

The criteria for winning the award are rigorous, requiring candidates to achieve a minimum of six A1s in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and six grade 1s in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Entries are collected from all ten districts within the Madina Area, with a panel meticulously reviewing the submissions to select the best-performing student as the award recipient.

During the award presentation, Area Superintendent Pastor Jonas Nartey encouraged the young attendees to pursue holiness and excellence in all their endeavors, drawing inspiration from the biblical figure Daniel, who exemplified these qualities even in a foreign land.

Following the exhortation, Pastor Cephas Tetteh Amegavi led a powerful prayer session. The prayer atmosphere was marked by a profound manifestation of the Holy Spirit, bringing freedom and uplifting the spirits of the young participants. The event concluded with a palpable sense of joy and peace, as the young men and women left the meeting spiritually rejuvenated and inspired.

The MAYEA initiative not only recognizes and rewards academic achievements but also emphasizes the importance of spiritual and moral excellence, aligning with the Ministry’s goal of nurturing well-rounded individuals.

Brief Profile of the Winner; Patience Owusu-Bossman

Patience Owusu-Bossman is a 19-year-old Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology student. She completed her secondary education at Wesley Girls’ High School, where she excelled academically, graduating with 6 As and 2 Bs in the WASSCE.

During her time at Wesley Girls, Patience was actively involved in extracurricular activities. She served as the treasurer and a member of the Wesley Girls’ High School Airforce Regimental Band, joined the drama club, participated in the Cadet Corps, contributed to her hall’s Sanitation Committee, and was the Chapel Head of her class.

Patience is known for her humility, optimism, attention to detail, and passion for learning. She has a strong interest in reading scientific materials and is always eager to learn from others.

Ms. Owusu-Bossman aspires to become a Pediatric Neurologist and aims to impact the lives of talented but underprivileged youngsters positively. She hopes to be remembered for her benevolence and for bringing smiles to the faces of others through her good works.
